Sorry for the lack of posts, over the last two weeks I've been packing up New York and flying across the pond for a semester abroad in Florence, Italy!! Even crazier, school dorms don't exist here, so we sent the first few days juggling orientation and apartment hunting! But that's finally settled, and I've found a beautiful little apartment with four other girls on the South side of the Arno river!

Our neighborhood, Oltarno, is quaint and quiet, filled mostly with locals and a few foreign renters, but much different from the touristy Duomo and Ponte Vecchio areas! We love discovering little cafes and supermarkets around us!

Even better, the building we moved into, called Annalena, has an amazing story, and dates back to before 1438, when Annalena d'Anghiari received it as a wedding gift from Cosimo de Medici! She was widowed 3 years later (her husband a victim of a political conspiracy) and she turned it into a convent called San Vicenzo D'Annalena, which remained active until 1786.

Since the convent was shut down, it's passed owners from noblemen, to army generals, Bonapartists, and poets, and was reconstructed in 1810 into Casa Annalena, which is how it appears today.

A quick tour of our place is soon to come in my 'moving in' vlog, but for now, here are a few shots on our quiet little street!

Ciao,

Audra
