Her Style: Monochrome Color with Jennyfer Gallagher
Her Style is a bi-weekly article on Southern New Yorker, showcasing one fashionable woman styling a current trend of her choice, accompanied by an interview with her on fashion, beauty, career, and more!
Jennyfer Gallagher is a Wholesale assistant for Balmain Paris, a French-Canadian turner New Yorker, and a fellow FIT Alumni. She also graduated from LaSalle College in Montreal with a degree in Fashion Marketing degree before making the move to NYC!
She’s a designer fashion fanatic, and can be seen scouring every sample sale in Manhattan, and has one of the kindest, and most genuine hearts of anyone I know! She’s simultaneously the boujie-est and most down to earth person I know, and she’s got a killer sense of style that I know you’ll love!
Read on to get o know Jenny a little better!
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as ever evolving. I go through a lot of phases based on trends, but one thing that remain is that I always look for loose fitting clothes that are chic and comfortable. I also mostly wear black, white and pink!
You’re clearly a designer fashion lover, who are a few of your favorite designers and why?
I have different favorite designers based on categories. Mainly, I love Balmain (obviously) for their bold looks and jacket.
I love the accessories at Valentino and Chanel (still wishing for a 2.55 bag!)
What made you want to move to NYC? Is there anything you miss about Montreal?
I wanted to move to NYC mainly to attend FIT and have more opportunities to work in luxury fashion, which I took full advantage of by interning at Marchesa, Saks and Balmain, which offered me my first full time job. I was also drawn to New York because of all the art, galleries, ballet/opera/Broadway shows, and also the great restaurants and bars! It's a place where people from all over the world come to achieve their dreams, which is a great energy to be a part of.
In Montreal, I miss the people the most, my dog and having a car! I also miss the Montreal rent compared to NYC rent!!
What are some of your favorite current trends, or ones you see coming up?
For the coming Fall, I love the coat trends of capes and extra long hems. I am obsessed with coats (maybe because I'm from Canada?) and always get a new one every year. These are easy trends to follow, and I hope I'll be able to get some good pieces in come October! I would also say that I love the mini bag, that was mostly introduced with Jacquemus, and is now trickling down the fashion cycle for all to enjoy!
If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is a tough one, because I always like to change it up, but I would probably say a The Row black dress and a long camel blazer (I get cold everywhere!). It would be a casual look, and if I needed to step it up I could take off the blazer for a classier look! I would pair it with Valentino Rockstud kitten heels and hopefully a classic Chanel bag!
I hope you loved seeing how Jennyfer and I styled the Monochrome color trend, and learning more about her! If you want Her Style delivered to your inbox, you get get it here!
